Hydraulic Models

Many machines have hydraulic components and many tools we use in the shop are pneumatic. Understanding these systems is important and possible through building with needleless syringes and tubing. Students can be challenged to create movement by utilizing syringes as the pistons that are driven by a second syringe. In the picture above third and fourth grade students designed: a house that splits in the middle and flames poke out, a penguin whose beak opens and closes and a chick emerging from behind a bush.
